k-2 Guidance Counselor

3-5 Guidance Counselor

My name is Melanie Mixon.  Rehobeth is my home and very near and dear to my heart.  I have been a part of this school my entire life, beginning in first grade and ending my high school career here in 1982.  My husband, Jerry,  graduated from Rehobeth in 1980.  We have a 27 year old daughter, Brittany, who also graduated from Rehobeth and is currently employed as a Special Education Teacher at a neighboring school system.  Our son, Joseph, is a Junior in college and our daughter, Bethany, is a Senior at Rehobeth High School.

I left Houston County for a few years, but was able to return as a Speech Language Pathologist in 1988.  I am happy to be the Guidance Counselor for the students of Rehobeth in grades 3-5 at this time.  It is my desire that each student becomes successful wherever they are in life.  As our students go through elementary school, middle school, high school, and later become adults, I want them to all set goals and meet these goals successfully.  I hope all of our students focus on their strengths and build on their weaknesses in order to achieve the goals they have set for themselves for today and for the future.

I have twenty nine years of teaching experience in public education.  Nineteen years in working with speech and language impaired children and ten years working in guidance.
